Also on C&VG, you can find a first look at Summoner 2. Not too long, and no screenshots presented. Here's something:
According to developer Volition, combat has been completely overhauled since the first game. Few specifics in terms of control are available at the moment, but real-time scrapping was shown at the Vegas event, and it was promised that Pava would be in full command of every thrust and parry. The original used a complex chain and combination system that unfortunately led to abject tedium. Better luck this time round.
Whereas in Summoner the camera stayed at a respectable distance during fights, here it gets right in on the action. This also goes for general adventuring – the end result is reminiscent of a warlock-and-warriors bastardisation of the Dreamcast RPG hit Phantasy Star Online (albeit not online), with sword-laden characters encountering a healthy amount of combat. |
