Warcry has interviewed the CTO of CCP about their MMO, Eve Online (I ran out of acronyms to use ;) ):
Warcry: Since the game has been live for a little while now, and you've just recently surpassed a previously held record of greater than 6000 players on at one time, are you anywhere near the point of profitability? How many subscribers does Eve currently maintain, and how far off/over is that from your target numbers, say, a year ago?

Hellmar: We have surpassed the point of profitability, so you can be absolutely sure that EVE will continue to grow and develop for years to come, as long as there are people that want to play it. Subscriptions have been on a rapid rise since we made a downloadable version available. Prior to launch, our projection was to have around fifty thousand subscriptions within 6 months. We aren’t that far off from our predictions and expect to reach that milestone in 2004.
