Roman Kremlicka was GamersClick's victim this time in a Q&A they had with him about the SciFi MMORPG Iritor Online.
GC: Why was the decision made to design your own engine in-house? What advantages did you feel an in-house engine could offer over a leased one and now that you’re this far along in the development process do you regret that decision?
RK: Because all commercially available engines look a little crappy compared to what can be developed with todays technology. The only comparable engines we have seen so far are the next generation FPS engines like Doom 3 and Unreal 2 and both are neither available nor really suited to run a MMORPG and besides they will cost quite a bit.

So far we are really happy with our decision; it allows us to stand out in a field that was utterly neglected by the competition so far.
