Arx Fatalis Element of the Week 5

Garrett, 2001-09-06

Arx Fatalis is an RPG developed by Arkane Studios. It offers a number of interactions with objects and NPCs, realistic action fights, a unique real time spell casting system, character creation, dialogues, puzzles, exploration in an underground atmospheric world with various Cities inhabited by several races, galleries, dungeons and mines all intertwined by an unexpected epic plot.

We will bring you this Arx Fatalis Element of the week in collaboration with publisher Fishtank. This time we feature the Priests of Akbaa.

The Priests of Akbaa
The Priests of Akbaa pray for Akbaa and sacrifice humans to hollow his name. They are strong and therefore dangerous believers, who follow their leader, the high priest Lord Iserbius, blindly. Their rituals are forbidden by the kingdom of Arx because the king believes in its own religion (close to our Christian religion). That's the reason why  the temples and rituals are kept secret. Most of the members of the cult of Akbaa are simple minded people. Before they joined the cult, some of them were dissidents  or just ordinary citizens of Arx.

If Akbaa's priests detect the player they will attack him immediately and also calling for help. Nearby priests, who hear the alarm, will join the fight. They will attack the player with powerful spells from a distance and are using a dagger in close combat. If they are wounded, they try to flee from the battle, looking for a secure place where they can cast healing spells to restore their health.
