Restriced Area Developer Diary part 2 Sia 'Garrett' Manzari, 2003-07-29
Restricted Area is an isometric action RPG set in a 2083 on earth in a somewhat post-apocalyptic world. Jan Beuck from developer master creating is writing a deveoper diary for German site MGW and RPGDot brings you the english version of. This second entry was originally posted on july 7th 2003 at MGW. Thanks to Daniel for the cooperation!
Hello out there! I say that, because I am in my office and probably will be for quite some time (approximately until 3 or 4 am - just like always). Today, we should finish the skills - alltogether 75 with 10 levels each, all with different effects. But for that we still need some icons coming down the long way from Croatia to Hamburg. And Martin (our lead programmer) has to stop playing 'Frozen Throne'...
But let's have a look at the past two weeks: The PSI spells are done and looking great. To make then, our engine has been added a particle system, which we can also be used for sparks and others features now. Especially when in motion the light and shadow effects are very nice. That's why we are also working on an in-game video, which should go live at the end of this month. For this, we only need the final version of the city, which unfotunately is being meditated over more than being worked on according to Leonid's (Artist) own words...be that as it may, we will present the game 'live' for the first time in Leipzig at the Games Convention, even though some magazines may be seeing it before that also.
Concluding I would like to say that the english website has been facelifted today (note from the editor: also an information, which is from july 7th - so no new facelift today) and offers a lot of new content like character descriptions, screenshots and wallpapers, among which I do recommend 'Johnson is here' in particular. Being a non-wallpaper-user usually, I was talked into using it and I can't imagine not using it anymore now.
