Ultima Online has changed and evolved many, many times over the last several years. It has a rich past filled with enough twist and turns, ups and downs to make a mystery novel. However, with each new itineration Electronic Arts seems to get closer and closer to shutting the gates completely; that is, making sure no new players can get in the game. This time around, another new land with its own enemies, houses, NPCs, dungeons, and items have been added to the already culturally over-crowded world. Two new "classes" have been added, allowing for more customization, but this alienates non-veteran players even more.
