Newly-launched "Wish" fansite, WishNews, has their first major feature up - an interview with Mutable Realms President, Mark Laukien:J.: What's the idea behind keeping most of Wish's backstory a secret?
Marc: Wish is still a game in development, and our backstory is too. We do not want to disclose bits and pieces for the backstory until it is really finished.
Also, it is my strong belief that backstory can only set a rough framework. The real story is what our players will make out of our game, what they will do in our world. In order for this to work, you need a critical mass of players in the
game, otherwise no stories can be told. That's one of the reasons why we think it is so important not to divide the world by "shards". A player, a guild or a noble house telling a story will have a much larger audience in Wish than in other games. There's also some screenshots here. |
