The Adrenaline Vault's Jim Richmond presents us with his two-and-a-half out of five star review of Atlantis: Evolution...
Mark Twain said of golf that it’s “a good walk spoiled.” If Mr. Twain had been around today, among the other colorful things he might have said, I believe the sentiment he held of Tiger Woods’ livelihood would have carried over onto Atlantis: Evolution. Ultimately, it’s beautiful to walk around in and look at things, but it’s spoiled by gaping problems in execution. Atlantis: Evolution hangs its hat on being an adventure game, but it doesn’t present the fine challenge that those who are serious about the sport expect, plus it includes too much tedium for those who are casual players. It’s not a bad release by any stretch, and in fact has the makings of quite a good story buried in there, but playing the actual game that story is sewn into feels hollow. If you need an adventure fix, fishing this one out of the bargain bin might hold you until something better comes along, but don’t expect to be transported very far. |
