IGN.PC has done a preview of Eve - The Second Genesis. CCP's futuristic MMORPG looks very promising, as they state. Here's a bit from the preview for you:
So now that you're in this wonderful section of space we'll refer to as the center of all joy and happiness, you need to start the game off like you might any other MMO. You create your character. These characters aren't something you'll be able to walk around a space station with, but it will be your representation. Basically, you'll get a highly modifiable detailed portrait to work with. You pick your empire first, then you can choose from the heads shipped with the game adding different hair, tattoos, eyes, lighting, and so on as you like. Later on in the game, you'll also be able to pick up new markings and tattoos, lighting schemes, accessories like sunglasses and jewelry, backgrounds (especially if you're in a corporation) and augmentations. These last pieces will actually be helpful to your character and improve statistics as well as being cool to look at.

After you've explored the depths of your vanity and have picked your race, you'll enter the game in an early and slightly junky spacecraft. All of the vessels in the game (of which there will be 40 at launch) will be highly customizable as well. You'll be able to add and subtract parts from the weapons, electronics, and defense systems so that you're the envy of all the kids on your block. All you'll need to do is dock with a space station to find parts or barter with other players.
