GameSpy has started its Earth & Beyond week, offering you an exclusive download of the E&B Beta Test at FilePlanet (subscription required).
Day I starts off with an interview with Senior Producer Eric Wang of Westwood Studios, as he talks about going gold, the inevitable retail launch date, and what work lies ahead. Here's an excerpt:
GameSpy: Are you nervous about how smoothly the launch will go or are you confident that all your bets are covered and that the game will kick off with little or no problems?
Eric Wang: I'm confident that the launch will go extraordinarily well. We've been testing this game for more than a year, and have been working on the technical issues for months now. In fact, we recently opened up multiple servers for the test, and it went off without a hitch. I'm actually pretty surprised that it's gone so smoothly.
In addition to the technical side of things, we've been working like fiends to make sure we have tons of content for players. Instead of throwing the player "to the wolves," so to speak, in the game, Earth & Beyond starts off with an incredibly easy-to-use tutorial that gives the player tons to do. And it only gets better from there. |
