Hogshead Publishing is the largest RPG publishing company in the British Isles. Founded in 1994, its success and stamina has derived largely from the popularity of the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay game, which it produces under licence from Games Workshop.
Hogshead remains true to the principles enshrined in its first release, the critical magazine Interactive Fantasy. It exists to expand the frontiers of role-playing and storytelling games by developing new and better ways of doing things. FRUP, its long-awaited satirical fantasy game, uses a system of mechanics powered not by dice, but by jellybeans; its Baron Munchausen RPG functions without GMs, pre-plotted adventures or, for that matter, mechanics; and its Bulletproof system (currently in development) is designed to be a pick-up-and-play game, a sophisticated RPG engine that people who have never role-played can start using within 10 minutes of buying the book, yet immersive and rewarding enough to keep experienced gamers entranced as well.
Hogshead's company motto is "Brevior vita est quam pro futumentibus negotium agendo." Roughly translated, that means "Life is too short to do business with idiots". |
