While it doesn’t pay to underestimate the impressive amount of content planned for Catacombs, the very first thing that catches your eye is the massive graphical upgrade that Catacombs brings to DAoC. All of the character models have been radically upgraded. While we don’t have screenshots of the new models, we were shown the new models side-by-side with the old, and the new character models look as if they come from an entirely different era. (Screenshots on this page are of the older characters.) New models look great, with improved skin tone, fully articulated fingers (instead of mittens with fingers drawn on) and completely redrawn armor.
