Before I hand over the link to the article, let me just say this: The naming of the Baldur's Gate games is something that can twist your mind: Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Anm, Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 - the only thing missing is a Baldur's Gate 2: Dark Alliance 3 (or something like that). Ok, back to the news story: Gamers.com has a Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 interview with lead designer Dave Maldonado and senior producer Darren Monahan. At least they aren't pretending it has much to do with Baldur's Gate (like Fallout: BoS tries to do) :-). However, BG: DA was a nice console game, and given what they say about the new one, this could be true as well:
We certainly don't intend for Dark Alliance to be the next great fantasy novel, but we've added quite a bit more story (both overall and character-specific), including what we hope is a rather impressive, delightfully surprising, "whoah, did they really just do that?" sort of twist at the end. Also, numerous optional side-quests, more NPC interaction, an item creation system that allows the player to create all sorts of wacky customized equipment tailored to his or her character (+3 Grand Thundering Longsword, +1 Flawless Bale Full Plate Gauntlets, etc.), and so on. |
