C&VG talked to producer Chris Gray in an interview about Call of Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth:
Presumably Dark Corners of the Earth still a first-person game? And is it still your intention to omit any kind of heads-up display?

Gray: Yes, and yes. The backgrounds, effects and design of Dark Corners have been constructed with a first-person view in mind - so it would be foolish to change at this advanced stage of development.

Besides, as planned from the outset, this perspective provides an increased level of immersion that is accentuated further by the lack of a HUD. The horror of a Deep One pounding towards you is likely to be diminished slightly by a sanity gauge in the corner displaying a loss of 10 percent sanity, and a crosshair aimed perfectly between its eyes.

The only time the player is taken out of the action is if they open the interface screen. This will provide access to inventory manipulation and health treatment.
