PlayXcess has posted a review of Buka's cyberspace RPG 'Paradise Cracked'. Rating: 6/10.
Who could possibly have thought that computers would become the very bane and canker of our simple lives? The original ideology, one that spans back to Babbage’s Difference Engine, was one of servitude – computers serve us, they do not become self-aware and launch tactical nuclear strikes to decimate humanity. Of course, we are perhaps to blame. After all; look at the first mainframe computer, the colossal PDP. It was a powerhouse in its day, used for serious calculations and complicated applications. It was only a matter of time before the scientists decided that serious calculations were academic (forgive the pun) and made it play games. Thus came a paradigm to dog all computers. Buy a powerful PC today and what do you invariably end up doing with it? Games. No wonder computers feel ill-abused.
