The Landspeeder being used in Star Wars Galaxies should be familiar to fans of the films as Luke Skywalker's personal transport in the original Star Wars. Luke's vehicle, the SoroSuub X-34 landspeeder, is the prototype for all vehicles in the game. In the established fiction, the X-34 was considered outdated as of the Battle of Yavin (Star Wars Galaxies takes place just after the Battle of Yavin shown in the first film); it was nevertheless a popular choice on temperate worlds due to its open cockpit. We selected it because it's so recognizable and has a "hot rod" feel. Although we're still tweaking the exact speeds for each of the vehicles, the landspeeder will allow players to travel much faster than they can on foot.
