Almost as good as Black Gate, but not quite. Black Gate was more nostalgic, which gives it a bit of an edge over SI. SI was also much harder. I would have never beat it if I didn't start dialing in to Origin's bulletin boards to figure out how to get past certain points. Still, this game has to be one of the top 10 RPG's of all times. |

The U7 series (Black Gate, Serpent Isle and add-ons) is still one of my top3 RPG favourites, its just too good! The immersiveness of the gameworld, freedom of progress within the story and world are all tweaked exactly right IMHO (not too linear and not too non-linear), characters and towns take on a live of their own and the world just feels alive, hard to beat that feeling... |

Only one game equals Ultima VII: The Black Gate and this is it. Serpent Isle gave Origin a chance to improve upon certain areas of the engine and as a result it generally performs better than U7:TBG did. While perhaps lacking the familiar exploration value of the Ultimas set in Britannia, it is by all means yet another incredible achievement and probably even surpasses Part 1 as far as content goes, but I think it is just barely edged out by TBG's slightly higher nostalgia value. This was the last great Ultima game before the series plummetted downhill. If you loved Ultima VII, you'll love its second part at least as much, if not a little more. |

This game was more of an adventure/rpg, but it was top notch in what it did. You got to explore a brand new area of Sosaria that was just as emmersive, if not more so, than Britannia. A superb story, with great plot twists and wonderful characters. Another masterpiece by Origin. |

It's more linear than BG, but it doesn't suffer for it. Although freedom is limited, it has a richer story than BG, and although Exult has levelled the playing field, the 'f' for food and keyring made me prefer this game, just for ease of use. |

Though the world seemed smaller than BG, everything felt larger. Monitor, Fawn, and Moonshade are all around the size of Britain in BG, and you can see character relations and such. More linear? I barely noticed.. |
