Now that MMOs are starting to hit the big time, it seems like everyone and his brother are coming out of the woodwork offering a vast multiplayer universe filled with Elves, Orcs, humans, gnomes and/or some other combination thereof. With all of those choices, some which have some pretty big names and heavy money behind them; it'll take something special to break through, some kind of special gimmick to pull attention away from the big boys. The folks over at Planetwide games seem to think they've hit on just such a special feature, a popular Asian MMO that they're localizing and bringing to the North American Market. The game is called Risk Your Life in Asia, but in North America's risk-averse retail climate, the game's name has been abbreviated to RYL: Path of the Emperor.
