Yes, it's a year since Vampire: Bloodlines was released and designer Brian Mitsoda (now at Obsidian) agreed to answer fan questions on the Planet Vampire forums. It's pretty informative, covering several areas that Brian designed, the death-march to shipping (remember all the "it's in the can and Troika are sitting around sipping beverages" rumours?) and more. Here's a clip:Was there ever a point when the idea of having mostly unique dialogue for each clan was considered? I know that would have made the development a hell of a lot more grueling, and you probably would have come to your senses early on, and realized that is just crazy, but did the idea ever arise?
I’m sure. But since I nearly killed myself trying to write Malk lines for each hub (city) given that I sometimes had a week to accomplish this, it would have been impractical. We did try to squeeze clan lines in where appropriate, especially for the Malks and Nosferatu, but given the scope of the game, it would have been impossible to do them for every character in the time allotted. Writing Malk lines was a fun and creatively challenging task, but I don’t know if I ever want to have to do that many alternative dialogue responses in one sitting ever again. Although, for the right price… Read it all here. Spotted at RPG Codex. |
