Middle Earth Warcry staff have tracked down Vivendo producers Chris Taylor and James Altenburg at GenCon West to discuss Middle Earth Online. Here's a snippet:We're currently in pre-alpha. What you're seeing is a mock-up for character creation. Right now we have human males and human hobbits. We've announced two male human classes - you have the option of the soldier or the sage (you can see that on our website) but for the purpose of this demo we only have the soldier and a few skills.
You'll be able to choose your upbringing and your vocation. Your vocation will be like your crafting skill. You will have one to start off with but as you progress you will be able to add others. Whatever you choose to be your primary will be maxed out to that level. There will be 14-16 vocations - everything from gardening to alchemy to blacksmithing to armorsmithing.
ME Warcry: If you choose the 'gardening' vocation and your background is 'farmhand', will you be that much more skilled in those abilities?
Exactly. And there will be some racial bonuses to that as well. Hobbits will be better gardeners than Dwarves will be.
You'll be able to choose your hair color, skin color; there will be many more variations than what you see here. You'll be able to choose your height. Here's the link. |
