TeamXBox have awarded inXile's 'The Bard's Tale' a score of 7.7 in their review.
Thinkin’ back to the good old days of gaming on the Commodore 64 sure brings back some fond memories. I remember when the short audio samples on Castle Wolfenstein seemed impressive…Achtung! Yeah, I spent hours upon hours with eyes fixed on my green monochrome monitor playing the likes of Zork, Summer Games, and The Bard’s Tale. Being one of the first RPG games set in a 3D perspective, The Bard’s Tale became an instant classic with a multitude of character classes and amazing adventures. Too bad I couldn’t experience the color graphics on my monitor, lol. The series did continue into the early nineties, but the Tale was placed aside on a dusty shelf for many, many years. The creator of the series, Brian Fargo, decided 2004 was the right time to wipe the dust off and bring The Bard’s Tale to an entirely new generation of gamers, but in an entirely different way. In fact, the only real aspect that the latest iteration holds to the games of old is the title. With a new company (inXile Entertainment) and a fresh, new approach to the series, Brian Fargo and his team set out to spin the best Tale yet. But did they succeed?
