Lionheart Item Feature 9

2003-07-11

Lionheart is a computer role playing game that is being developed by Reflexive Entertainment in conjunction with Black Isle Studios. The game is an original title which uses an updated version of the SPECIAL character development system (from Fallouts 1 and 2) in a quasi-historical medieval Europe. Lionheart diverges from traditional high fantasy by placing the player on Earth in the 16th century in which history has taken a different path and magic has been released upon the world. Using a mix of historical and fictional locations and characters, the player progresses through a deep story while advancing through the classless character system.

In this new series of articles, designers of the game will introduce several items from the game

True Cross

Guarded by the Knights Templar for centuries, this holy object vibrates like a thing alive. It has grafted itself to your flesh, imbuing you with an inner light and vitality. Feelings and thoughts that are not your own course through your mind, giving you a tinge of fear but an overall sense of power. You sense that your Strength and Endurance have increased by 1, and all your Combat Skills and your Divine Fortitude branch have increased by 10.

Boots of Arid d'Jinn

Once belonging to a great orator of the desert wastes in Persia, these boots became legendary not for who wore them, but how far they had been worn. They have wandered Europe, and touched the shores of the New World and back again. This historical information, for some reason, is scorched onto the sole of the boot. These boots provide +12 to Speech and Barter, but give -3 to One-Handed and Two-Handed Weapon Skills.

Morning Star of Demonic Bile

(One-Handed) 2-7 Crushing/Slashing Damage. Dredged from the depths of the sewers underneath Barcelona, this weapon has small, crude runes pounded into its metal surfaces. On a successful strike, this potent weapon has a 35% chance of doing an extra 15 points of fire damage. (Developer's Note: The exact percentage and amount of Fire Damage is determined by the power of the individual when found. Exact game numbers will vary, depending upon how powerful the character was when the item was discovered).
