RPG Vault kicks off a new Mythica feature series with an interview with Lead Game Designer, Joel Manners. Here's an excerpt:
Jonric: Why did you decide to incorporate Private Realms into your design, and how do they work?
Joel Manners: Our main goal for Private Realms is to allow us to give the player a very detailed, very reactive adventure in an MMOG - the types of adventure that you usually only see in single-player games, where the world is complex, dynamic, and reactive to the players. Of course, our huge step forward is that we are doing that in a massively multiplayer environment.
The great thing about Private Realms is that they are really areas of the world in which a player and his group can adventure together in private. Mythica merges the private modules into the public world, but once you have entered a private area, only you and your party can interact with the game around you. Others can enter only if you make them part of your party. Many groups may be adventuring in the same area, but each will have their own private copy of it. |
