There is a new fiction at the Shadowbane site, talking about The Dark Lady of Ardan's March. Here's an excerpt:
"The first born of the Titans was named Ardan. The very first Human created by the hand of the All-Father. He ruled over both Titan and humankind for nearly 2,000 years in the mythical paradise Kingdom which bore his name. When the Elvish Magi thrust their terrible curse upon the Humans, Ardan the Titan sacrificed himself for Humanity, taking the full force of the magic upon himself. It has been theorized that his sacrifice weakened the boundaries between the realm of the living and the Planes of the Dead.

Towards the end of the War of the Scourge, we know that the All-Father ressurected Ardan from the Realm of the Dead. The Legends tell us that the All-Father only entered the Death Planes once, but it was before Ardan's death from the curse. How Ardan was revived is unknown to us, the small obscure lore that we have only states that "he was lost and then found by the All-Father.

It was then that Ardan became known as the Gatherer of the Dead, or by others, the Ferryman of Souls. It is the pale faced Ardan who shepherds souls from the living, to their place of rest into the Lands of Death. The fact that Ardan's appearance was transformed after his ressurection and that he hovers between life and death, is the primary reason that many of the Shades revere him as their Patron."
