Two reviews of Warcraft 3 can be found on this sunday: one is at epigamer and rates the game 9/10. The second one is at Monkeyreview - and their rating is 4.5 out of 5 bananas. Here's a part about graphics:
Warcraft 3 is the first snatch at some real 3d models and terrain. Much time was spent in the detail of the characters, and although blocky up-close, there is a sense of character and style that gives it the Warcraft-like feel. Cut-scenes were just incredible, the main-menu was also replaced by gloomy 3d-menus with an active background giving you the sense that your actually entering there world. As far as gameplay, System requirements remained relatively low while still delivering top-notch graphics on many different video cards. I found the engine very similar to Battle Realms. Water was done beautifully, transparency was added to a lot of the elements within the game, and attack animations were greatly improved on a large scale. There's not too much more we could ask for in an RTS at this point in time. Blizzard certainly lived up to our expectations in this area, Blizzard was able to deliver top notch graphics without the type of requirements we were faced with while testing GTA III.
