Blizzard has announced a character transfer system at the official 'World of Warcraft' website. The transfers will first be tested on the Arthas realm. Players from there can move their characters to the Nathrezim realm (and only to that realm... you don't get to choose the new server freely). A list of other realms where character transfers will be activated soon can be found right here and this FAQ should cover most questions on the whole subject.
