Beta Bites has done a preview of Disciples 2 - Dark Prophecy. Disciples is a turn based strategy game with strong RPG elements, reminiscent of Heroes of Might & Magic, but with enough own ideas to make it unique. Here's a snippit about fighting:

Simply walk up to someone and with a clashing of swords effect, the battle will begin. The battle itself looks like a typical Final Fantasy layout, with an angled side view of the two teams. Yours on the left, and the enemy on the right. The options for battle are defend, retreat, auto-battle (nice touch) and battle strategy. At least in the early stages, characters are restricted to one unique battle strategy. Acolytes can only heal, squires can only lash out with their swords, etc. Another useful fact about battle is that this game has protection against stupid mistakes, meaning you can't make an Acolyte heal your enemies because you thought that he was going to attack or make your squire attack a fellow party member. Auto battle means that the computer will decide on the best course of action for each character, and therefore battles go more quickly. An injured character will show a red film over his or her portrait equal to the amount of damage the character has taken. This provides a quick visual display of how badly people are hurt, as opposed to trying to calculate 112/200 or 21/35 available hit points. Each dead character is replaced by a small wooden cross. However, just because your character 'dies' doesn't mean he or she is out of the game. Characters can be brought back to life either by items, spells, or a visit to the temple. My first few fights were very easy. They were so easy in fact, that I overestimated my skill and got slaughtered. This proved frustrating however, it may be more balanced in the finished product.
