Sorcerer's Place found this interesting interview with Bruno Bonnell. Bonnell, one of the founders of Infogrames, parent company of Atari, was interviewed by The Street, a market-watch company. Of specific interest to our readers is the fact that, as most know, there has been much speculation about how Atari's financial health would impact the release and subsequent support of Neverwinter Nights 2.
There have been questions that have been raised -- that you guys have raised yourselves -- about your ability to continue as a going concern. Where do things stand now?
Well, you have different aspects here. You have the public information that we owe to our shareholders and the analysis from outside auditors about the status of the company. And there is the reality of the business from an everyday basis.
I would say on the first front, our financials are two weeks away. We posted a fairly serious nine months. I don't think people are expecting anything from the last quarter of the year; and if they were, it would be, probably, a mistake.
You guys have warned that you are in danger of having your stock delisted. What's the status on resolving that?
We have between nine months and a year to resolve this issue. There is a very easy way to do it, which is to optically change the trading price by reverse-split. If you do this in market conditions which are not good, you have the risk that people are actually downplaying your stock, so you degrade the value. I would say that's the last resort, that's the last way to get off the hook of the delisting.
I'm expecting that with different announcements and different results we'll have over the next six months, we'll have a situation where we don't need to have concern about delisting anymore.

Another aces review of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, albeit a bit later than the rest. With a 9/10 score, the review states: When it comes to computer role playing games, there are either solo games like this, or big online games. Often the worst part about online games is the presence of the other people, but Oblivion gives that online game feel, without the nagging sensation that the dungeon you’re about to explore has been trampled by thousands of previous adventurers. While it may seem like this game has more negatives than positives, much of the bad stuff can be ignored or worked around (or in the case of gimpy AI, simply not exploited), leaving a game that, while little better than Morrowind, could actually be a little worse and still be a great game. If you played Morrowind, and want more of the same, get this game. If you haven’t played Morrowind, get it first; in six months, you’ll probably get Oblivion as well. Titan Quest: Preview @ Worthplaying
(PC: Single- & Multi-Player RPG) | Posted by Dhruin @ 07:26 - Top | Game Info | Homepage |
A flurry of previews with Titan Quest going Gold sees Worthplaying writing some impressions:On the epic front, it's hard to get more dramatically grandiose subject matter than Titan Quest's source material. For those of you who've misplaced your ragged copies of Edith Hamilton's Mythology, Titans were the race of gods who gave birth to the Olympians and later came to regret giving into the urge to procreate. Written by Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace, the story leads your hero from a small village on to Sparta, Egypt and China before the single-player quest comes to an end. The idea, according to the Iron Lore folks, is to explore material that's both exotic and accessible, so as to please action-RPG fans while not alienating potential newcomers whose favorite Achilles ever is Brad Pitt. |

Carolyn Koh and Laura Genender debate the correlation of tradeskills and female gamers.Laura Genender: One thing I've always hated in MMOs is when people assume that, just because I'm a female gamer, I should be really into the tradeskills and crafting aspect of the game. Personally, I've always avoided crafting skills like the plague; even in craft-centric games like A Tale in the Desert I spent more of my time working with flower genetics and exploring the desert than I did at the loom or the kitchen.
Carolyn Koh: One thing I have found in playing MMOs for the past 8 years is that many female gamers enjoy the tradeskill and crafting aspect of the game. I myself do. It's a challenge outside of just blowing things up, and that is, in of itself, an aspect of an MMO that is more attractive to female gamers than to males. More... | Source: MMORPG.com |
The latest in a series of module reviews for Neverwinter Nights has been posted over at NW Vault. The module's name is "Red Moon Rising" and it earned 7.72/10.00 stars. The reviewer had this to say: This module provided me with several afternoon/evenings of excellent fun, and no doubt with the replayability factor, will probably provide me with a few more yet to come if I return to it once again. While perhaps it is not the greatest of great modules out there, it certainly deserves to be one that you have played. | Source: NW Vault | |
