ZenGamer has a review of Bioware's Star Wars: KotOR. The score is 9/10 and here's an excerpt:
One of the core components of any roleplaying game is the combat. Combat in KOTOR is quite different from anything you’ve played before, but works very well once you get used to it. All actions are in real-time, though the game will auto-pause whenever an enemy is sighted. At this point you can issue commands, which can be queued up and will be issued as the next turn becomes available. When the game is unpaused, the fighting plays out in real-time, with your characters performing the actions you have queued or their default actions if you have not specified an order. While at first it may seem a little unwieldy, once you get used to it you may find yourself not pausing the combat at all and doing everything real-time. The combat strikes a very nice balance between real-time and turn-based, and I hope future Bioware games take advantage of it.
