When I first double-clicked the launch icon for my freshly installed copy of the EverQuest II beta, I had my reservations. After all, I played its predecessor, got over that addiction and realized just how much better the MMO genre had gotten. I have often wondered why Sony and Verant Interactive didn't work harder to update their big seller to compete with current MMOs for new players, but now that I have seen what they have been doing with its sequel, I know that the time was well spent.
