Camelot Vault has come up with a guide on how to play an assassin (Nightshade) in Dark Age of Camelot. Quite interesting and detailed, have a look:
As you level, you will gain specialization points. The ENTIRE game revolves around these specialization points and how you use them. Spreading them out too thin will result in a character that can do a lot of things, but can’t do anything very well. Keeping them focused on one or two skills will result in a character that can do one or two things very well, but can ONLY do those one or two things. Starting out as a Stalker, you will only have 3 places to put your points: Blades, Piercing, and Stealth. Stealth is of little concern to you at these early levels. Instead you should choose between blades and piercing. Most nightshades choose piercing, because thrust based damage is based on both dexterity and strength (the more you have of both, the more damage you do), and Nightshades start out with high dexterity, and gain an additional point of dexterity each level. Blades, however, are purely strength based, and Nightshades start out with low strength and only gain additional strength points every 3 levels. While better early on, they eventually become inferior damage-wise. The choice between the two is up to the player. Blades are not a bad choice, as they will allow you to do more damage in your early levels, and thus level faster. Piercing is similarly not a bad choice; it may make the first 20 levels or so a bit tougher, but they come out on top later on. For your first four levels, put all your skill points into one of these two weapon skills. Don’t worry about stealth yet. |
