SWG Impressions at The Wargamer

The Wargamer has posted some first impressions from Star Wars: Galaxies. There were speculations (and there still are) that the game will be released too early, and this is what the article has to say about this:
But is Star Wars Galaxies as bad as some would have me believe? I've read the boards, the tirades, and I've witnessed (and felt) the flames. Personally, I feel that perhaps Star Wars Galaxies is coming out a little earlier than it should. Does that mean it's unplayable along the lines of Anarchy Online when it launched abysmally a coupla years back? No way. My problems with the Star Wars Galaxies client have been negligible in the last few weeks. In just the last week I've spent a good part of one day downloading a huge update, and just today (late Friday night, well late for my have-to-work-in-the-morning butt to be up) I downloaded a quick patch to the game. The developers are hard at work, and promise continued, and even improved, attention to bugs and game improvements.

Will this translate into a terrible launch? Who knows? I have no crystal ball, and hopefully Star War Galaxies will walk proudly out of the launch gates instead of stumbling. In the end, however, I feel that the game is good now, and has a huge potential for being great.
