HomeLan Fed has conducted an interview with Akella, the developers of the pirate RPG Sea Dogs 2, which will be released through Bethesda just like its predecessor Sea Dogs; here's a snippet of the interview:
HomeLAN - What other important gameplay aspects will be put into the sequel?

Akella - To make Sea Dogs 2 even more interesting then its predecessor we gave you:

  • The ability to have NPCs join you and create a small party and manage the NPCs’ evolution along with their ships and crews.
  • A chance to take part in large-scale naval battles. Player gives orders to their allies and companions, but can also sink and board enemy ships alone. If the player has an overwhelming advantage, the enemy may surrender.
  • Fighting on land using sword and pistol.
  • The ability to sneak into hostile town.
  • Improved AI that has a big impact on the difficulty of the game and how enemy ships (an enemy NPCs) will fight.
  • Lots and lots of little things that improve various areas of the game.
