|
Al Quadim - The Genie's Curse: 8/10 points |
Sold as an adventure game not to be misleading. It's not really to RPG like, but I had a blast playing it and would recommend it to anyone who likes zelda or fast pace adventure games with rpg elements. |
Anachronox: 7/10 points |
Good, deep game. To console for me, but I still liked it (and I hate final fantasy). |
Anarchy Online: 8/10 points |
This is a very involved mmorpg. Implants, buff, skill point distrabution, and gear juggling make this a very involved game and not for the casual gamer. |
Arcanum - Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: 7/10 points |
Good game and character dev. The game was kind of ruined for me because I used a char editor when things got tough. Good game, not quit great. |
Baldur's Gate: 8/10 points |
This game may be old but it still has good replay value today. Good game |
Baldur's Gate 2 - Throne of Bhaal: 8/10 points |
This is a good game,it keeps you wanting to play, and the replay is good also. Load times can be annoying. And there is a feeling of just trying to get through some quests, you know? Where you just want it to end. But other than that no compliants, very good game. |
Betrayal at Krondor: 8/10 points |
This game is still good and I still play every now and then. A little to linear, and I hate when I don't have a say with whos in my party, or building someone up and they leave. You also have no say over name, class, or any sort of character creation |
Black & White: 7/10 points |
I stopped liking this game after a day or two, but you have to give it credit. This game was a big advancement in a lot of areas. |
Blades of Exile: 7/10 points |
The series where great when it came out. |
Blood Omen - Legacy of Kain: 5/10 points |
This is not an RPG |
Buck Rogers 1: Countdown to Doomsday: 10/10 points |
This and Matrixed cubed where so much better than other SSI games. The graphics are better as well as story and every game element. And I'm not a big sci-fi fan
|
Buck Rogers 2: Matrix Cubed: 10/10 points |
One of my favorite all time games. I loved it |
Dark Age of Camelot: 4/10 points |
I really disliked this game. It is basically EQ. The only thing good about it is that it is new. |
Dark Sun 1 - Shattered Lands: 9/10 points |
This is a great game. I spent alot of time playing this game and enjoyed every minute of it. I highly recommend this game |
Darklands: 9/10 points |
In my top five favorite games. Most realistic RPG I ever played. Character creation is an art form for this game. There is no ending (which I kind of like in games) but you dont even really notice. Wish there was a head badguy to beat though. Still fun to play even today. |
Darkstone: 8/10 points |
It is a great game and alot better than diablo in my opinion. Character progression is too linear (every class has turns out the same). I hate fast paced games but I really liked this game. |
Deus Ex: 7/10 points |
The load time for this game is amazing. I hated to mess up because I would sit there for 49 days waiting to play again. After a day or two I stopped playing
|
Diablo 2: 5/10 points |
The only good thing about this game is the skill tree. I bought it and played for maybe 6 hrs before I lost interst. |
Elder Scrolls 2 - Daggerfall: 9/10 points |
one of my favorite games. Greatest character creation I have ever seen. I spent more time making characters than playing the game though. I never even finished the game either (or beat the main quests) but I had a blast playing |
EverQuest: 5/10 points |
You need a crap-load of free time. If you don't read the sites or have someone tell you in game, you might play a class for a couple weeks that no one will ever group with in later levels. I didn't like it at all, but some people love it. Somepeople have like over a year real-time logged onto a character. That's crazy IMO. But if people are willing to give a year of thier life over 3-4 years to play a game, they must like it alot and you could be one of them. I personaly would wait for one of the new mmorpg's to come out, that way you dont get jadded to the who genre. |
Evil Islands: 7/10 points |
Lot of promise in this game but alot of anoyance also. It was fun, but then would want to make me smash the game into bits at times. |
Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 10/10 points |
Good game, very open game play. Gets boring after a while |
Fallout Tactics - The Brotherhood of Steel: 7/10 points |
good game if you like tactical squad combat. I have to admit I liked Jagged Alliance alot better. I was hoping it was going to be like ff tactics but it wasn't. Still a good game |
Freedom Force: 7/10 points |
It was a fun game but not really an RPG in my opinion. The scenerios are tylored to certain pre-made characters and you win points by beating these scenerios. I lost interst before I had enough points to make my own guy.
I did have fun while I played though, I'm just not really into this type of game. I more of a pure RPG guy. I would recomend this game to anyone that really isn't to stuck on a certain genre. |
Gorasul - The Legacy of the Dragon: 5/10 points |
The living sword aspect and the Dragon skills are cool, but the game feels old. I don't know if it was my computer or what, but the graphics were not that good and it ran really really slow. I really didn't like this game too much, but it did have some cool aspects. |
Gothic: 8/10 points |
Controls are hard to learn, combat is twich based, story is linear. Besides that this game is incredible. This game is very hard and challenging, but it is a great game. |
Jagged Alliance 2: 7/10 points |
It is missing something that 1 has. It is still a great game with great gameplay but I think it is two much where JA1 was just enough. |
Legends of Valour: 9/10 points |
I loved this game. First game I ver played that you could customize your characters face with alot of detail. Kind of like Ultima Underworld but in a big city where you join guilds and kill vampires. It is wicked hard to navigate in the huge city, and the game is confusing and hard, but also a lot of fun. |
Lineage - The Bloodpledge: 5/10 points |
It's a big step back in mmorpg's. |
Menzoberranzan: 8/10 points |
I liked this game alot. Along with the Ravenloft games. I enjoyed them greatly |
Might & Magic 5 - Darkside of Xeen: 6/10 points |
I have to admit I am one of the few RPG fans that didnt care for Clouds or Dark dide. |
Might & Magic 7 - For Blood and Honor: 7/10 points |
Same game as 6 and 8 |
Might & Magic 8 - Day of the Destroyer: 6/10 points |
Oudated engine, good game play |
Planescape: Torment: 5/10 points |
If you like talking this is your game. It won a bunch of awards so I'm probably wrong or in the minority, but I personaly don't get it. Its like the "make your own adventure" books with fancy graphics. This is how it goes. ---blah blah blah blah blah---hit a button--balah blah blah blah blah---hit a buntton---continue over and over with some moving around |
Pool of Radiance: 6/10 points |
I wasn't a huge fan but I played it a couple years after release. Buck Rogers was the only game with the SSI engine I really liked |
Pool of Radiance - Ruins of Myth Drannor: 5/10 points |
There is alot wrong with this game, besides bugs. The UI is bad, balance is bad, combat is bad (and slow). Very disapointing
|
Quest for Glory 1 - So You Want to be a Hero?: 10/10 points |
My all time favorite game. I got a job to get a computer when I was thirteen just to buy it. This game is a masterpiece and the only game I'll give a ten too. I replay this game at least twice a year. If I was you I would get the hero pack that has 1-4 on it (and a remake of one). One is the hands down best out of the series and my favorite game of all time. If you dont like it I dont know what to tell you, but I can't recomend this game enough. |
Secret of the Silver Blades: 7/10 points |
Better than the first, but doesn't compare to Buck Rogers for SSI old games |
Technomage: 6/10 points |
I didn't really care for it. |
Ultima 7 - Serpent Isle (Sequel): 8/10 points |
Almost as good as black gate. |
Ultima 7 - The Black Gate: 8/10 points |
I had this game for about 3 weeks before I finally came up with a boot disk that could make it run, it definitly was worth the wait, I don't think it was the "game to end all games" as others think. But I definitly enjoyed it and played it many times. I more of a Daggerfall, Darklands, Wizardry 7 guy.
If you get it now it is still a pain to get it to work, runs from dos, but there is a mod being worked on to get it to run from windows I think. |
Ultima 8 - Pagan: 8/10 points |
I liked this game. I hated the jumping adventure aspect but it still had good graphics and was fun. |
Ultima 9 - Ascension: 6/10 points |
Not really an RPG. It is an adventure game like zelda. |
Ultima Online: 7/10 points |
Lot's to do in this game. Its pretty hard to start out, and has the same problems as other MMORPG's but is still a great game. |
Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption: 6/10 points |
Really linear. I don't consider this a RPG. Combat was awful. |
Wizardry 6 - Bane of the Cosmic Forge: 8/10 points |
I played 7 before this and got it so I would have a more powerful group going into seven. (And I think the original 7 had no Lizardman). I had a ball playing it even though it was pretty out dated when I got it. |
Wizardry 8: 8/10 points |
I love the Wizardry series so I'm a little biased. * was good, but combat is tedious, and it is lacking something. I didn' really care about the story or what would happen next, I played just to get through it. But it is one of the few games I finished in the last couple years |
