Rubies of Eventide: 8/10 points |
I actualy hate seeing here comments its worth 10/10 because it is free. thats cheap.
Rubies of Eventide is not the usual type of mmorpg. It was once marketed under the "old time charm" motto. It suits it. Rubies reminds me of old days spent with freinds in one dark room playing dungeons and dragons. The graphics adds to the feel too. its far from photorealistic, its like cartoonish and cute.
the game system is being developed for 10 years now as the game started as a multiuser dungeon on 1994. the character development system is about the best i have ever seen in any of the big games, solo and multiplayer. you can choose form 100 classes, each is defined by set of modifiers which tell how easy or hard it is for given class to learn chosen skill - and you can learn all skill, your warrior can cast healing spells or even ressurect others while your weaponsmith can use spells to improve his performance in smithing. seven races in game, each can be anything, magical race leshy can serve as a tank if player choses so, he will never be that good as an ogre tank, but getting a leshy in plate armor is much more rewarding.
as for being free... the game offers way to play without paying. thats right. but without donations the game would just vanish. the community is what makes the game awesome, the community paid for new server which was added yesterday and its nearing donation drive for a RP server (1200 USD in a week!). There had to be implemented some limits to free game so the game runs smoothly to players who pay for it to run.
i preffer this game over any of the big names in mmorpg world. its definitely not for everyone, but you may find yourself unexpectedly addicted to it after while |
