Thanks to Chris Hales for sending along word that the official Archaean website has been updated with an announcement regarding the suspension of Archaean's development. While developer eMage has not totally given up yet, things aren't looking too bright for the company's online RPG. The current troubles seem to be caused by funding, or the lack thereof, mostly.
Here's a snip:
I encourage you all not to feel downtrodden - Archaean is not dead. We have not lost faith in its possibilities - but we must also face reality and the facts that it presents. It is possible we will need to create another, simpler, game first in order to establish investor validity. It is possible we might be able to go to work on Archaean right away. There are many things we simply cannot predict. I hope you all keep the flame of our dream sizzling inside of you, because one day we will be back with a boom and rekindle the Archaean fire - this time fulltime and fully professional. Wish us good luck on our journey to that goal, and in the meantime always remember: Your saga awaits.
