Deadalfs has slapped up a review of Blizzard's 'World of Warcraft'. Rating: 9/10.
I’m not the most prolific massively multi-player online game player, but there’s good reason for that. While the concept seems perfect on paper, I’ve yet to see a proven example in digital form. Massive worlds with the best of intentions, built to accommodate zillions of players with different playing styles, but with very little to actually ‘do’ within them. It’s quite clear after five minutes of playing World of Warcraft that Blizzard have spent a long time sitting on the fence, actually playing these games and analysing what does and doesn’t work within the genre. This is a game for both believers and MMO atheists. It’s nothing new, but it’s the first MMORPG that equals the sum of its parts. Why is this? Allow me to explain…
