RPG Vault and Spiderweb's Jeff Vogel look back on the development of 'Geneforge III' in this wrap report. You're a Shaper. This means you belong to a very mysterious magical guild, one that's widely regarded as the most powerful of all. Together with your fellow members, you share the amazing ability to create life that you can then mold to serve your needs and goals. If you want or require a follower that will gladly sacrifice itself for you, just make one. Should you desire a few of them or even a horde, you can simply construct more. Of course, the people of the world respect you, or perhaps they treat you with deference as a matter of fear. It has been that way for millennia. In any case, you are definitely used to having your own way. It's not even an imaginable scenario that anyone would ever dare try to capture you and obtain your precious secrets.
Developer Spiderweb Software's Geneforge 3 is the independent company's latest RPG based on its original science fantasy property that began as outlined above. This episode was released for Windows four weeks ago, about two months after the Mac version. A disaster has taken place. Your school has been attacked and destroyed. Rebels and monsters have begun to roam the land, bringing fire and desolation. The rule of the Shapers faces a serious challenge. You are alone in a foreign land. On your own, you will have to gain sufficient power and enough allies to defeat the insurgents. Then again, they also seem rather eager to recruit you. Here at RPG Vault, we've been following Jeff Vogel and his award-winning shareware games for several years. When the opportunity arose to see his thoughts on this one, we very quickly grabbed it. |
