GamePen has done a review of Diablo 2 - Lord of Destruction. It is quite favorable, advising you to buy this addon if you liked D2. Nice review, but they have fallen to a habit that seems to be more and more common: they spam you with a popup ad every single page of the 3 page article!!!! Isn't it a shame that you'll have to close these silly casino ads every time you want to view a new page? As I said before, times are hard for gaming sites, but I doubt these popups will help them to keep their visitors. Anyhow, there's what they have to say about your henchmen:

One of the subtler changes is the way Henchmen are used now. Rather than being just another "summoned" creature, Henchmen are more like NPCs who fight with you. You can now give them your old armor and weaponry, and they, like you, will gain experience and increase effectiveness as they kill monsters. You can now heal them while "in the field" with potions as well. You can even take them with you from Act to Act. (My archer from Act I is still with me, using a gemmed composite bow and armor.)

Speaking of gems, there are now a few additions to socketable items. Jewels are essentially gems with two or more effects rather than one. Runes are new items that are like gems, except if placed in a specific order on a specific type, they give wondrous enhanced powers that are greater that the sum of their parts. Charms are items that are not equipped - you simply keep them in your backpack, where they will bestow various effects.
