There is an interview with Richard "Hap" Cheung (he was behind the Future vs Fantasy Mod for Quake, btw) about his latest Project "Purge". The interview is dated January 22nd. Here's a bit:
HomeLAN - When did you first start working on Purge?
Richard Cheung - Purge has been developing for about 5 months now.
HomeLAN - Is it fair to say that Purge shares a number of elements from Future vs. Fantasy?
Richard Cheung - Yes. Ironically, Purge is far more "future VERSUS fantasy" than FvF is. In FvF, there are arbitrary two sides. Futuristic and fantasy classes could join any side, so it was ultimately "future and fantasy". In Purge, we have the Order and the Chosen who are strictly either technology or magic. Purge strongly adheres two diametrically opposed concepts: technology vs magic and science vs religion.
Being hybrid RPG/FPS, Purge is hugely different than FvF but there are two main points of similarity. First, as you probably guessed, general themes of classes are similar. There four futuristic classes for the Order and four fantasy classes for the Chosen. Secondly, like FvF, every class in Purge has a completely unique weapon set. No two classes share a single weapon. Even the typical "out-of-ammo" weapon (usually a knife or punch in most games) has a different model and acts somewhat differently for each class. |
