This isn't in our database and arguably isn't an RPG but some readers might be interested in Just RPG's interview with Caravel Games, makers of the Deadly Rooms of Death series - indie adventure/puzzle/RPG/dungeon romps:2. Playing the DROD series is a very unique experience. Where did the inspiration for the series come from?
I mainly just made the kind of game I wanted to play. I like complex problems that come from simple premises. I've got a bad case of gridlove, too. So after everybody else making games declared topdown grids old-school retrogarbage, I was thinking we'd barely scratched the surface. You just can't beat the capacity of a graph to show a detailed situation clearly. I still get excited sometimes by an empty sheet of graph paper, with all those little squares ready to be filled in. It's weird, I know. |
