CGOnline has posted a short preview of Larian Studios' Divine Divinity, an isometric RPG, which is considered to become the best RPG in 2001 by many people.
The game plays out in real-time, but you can pause at any time and issue orders, so it's not likely to be any more fretful than a Baldur's Gate game. The graphic style interface seems to point to an action-oriented type of game, albeit with some depth. "At any point in the game, you can choose to act in either an action-oriented manner or go through the detailed quests and sub-quests in more traditional role-playing fashion," sayeth the PR sages, though it's hard at this point to know what that really means. Given that the game promises a "virtually unlimited" amount of special equipment for outfitting your character, there seems to be more than a whiff of Diablo here. |
