RPGDot Game Rating Machine

Arhu has rated the following games:

Ambermoon: 10/10 points

The best game ever for the Amiga, the second part of the never completed Amber trilogy, the first real RPG I've ever played, and even greater than its predecessor, Amberstar. Go get an emulator and play it if you're into classics, it will be worth it! More info can be found at the Thalion Webshrine ( http://thalion.amiga.tm ).

Amberstar: 8/10 points

Wonderful music. Very good game, though imho not as good as the sequel, Ambermoon. But at least it has been released for the PC also.

Diablo: 7/10 points

Same comment as for the sequel: The single player mode is mediocre, agreed, but this game is meant to be played with other players, and in multiplayer mode the gameplay is perfect. I believe everyone who voted <= 5 points for this game has only played single player and thereby missed the point, unfortunately. I rate it 5 for SP, 10 for MP, leaves 7.5 - I'll make it 7 because Diablo 2 was kind of the same, but improved a lot on this one.

Diablo 2: 8/10 points

The single player mode is mediocre, agreed, but this game is meant to be played with other players, and in multiplayer mode the gameplay is perfect. I believe everyone who voted <= 5 points for this game has only played single player and thereby missed the point, unfortunately. 5 for SP, 10 for MP, leaves 7.5 - I'll make it 7 because the add-on is similar but improves the gameplay even further.

Planescape: Torment: 9/10 points

Splendid story-heavy game with memorable characters. Sometimes there's almost too much to read, but it's all very well written. It bends the AD&D rules quite a bit, which serves the gameplay, and the atmosphere is really good.

Realms of Arkania 3 - Shadows over Riva: 9/10 points

Oh.. Realms of Arkania.. This game, along with the first two parts, is one of my all-time favorites. Granted, it has its flaws, like missing NPCs, _but_ it has a very dense and _extraordinary_ atmosphere. Wonderful music, a linear but gripping story, a character system that feels, in my opinion, much better than AD&D, and most of all, a very believable, medieval world. It's not like the.. colorful and stylised realms of the Forgotten World, but rather more realistic and grittier, with IMHO more _real_ magic. I'd rate it 10, but that will be left for Star Trail, which was the best part of the trilogy.
