GamerGod has some impressions of D&DO on offer:
DDO’s real time combat system is one of its central, unique hooks. Unlike most MMORPGs, combat in DDO is fairly fast paced and arcade style, involving active blocking, dodging, and tumbling on the player’s part to help avoid attacks. Monsters and players alike are constantly in motion throughout combat, hopping around and maneuvering for better attack angles. Unlike a number of MMORPGs, your facing is important; you can only actually attack or cast spells in front of you. Most monsters, likewise, can only see in their frontal arcs, allowing you to sneak behind them and attack from their weaker flank.
