The second feature in today's double whammy at RPGVault is an interview with the Freedom Force team. The question today is: Is there a power in the game that has surprised you by being more useful or effective than you initially thought it would be? If so, which is it, and how has it surpassed your expectations? - and this is artist Johnatan Pelling's answer:
Well, there are a lot of really fantastic powers in the game with an enormous amount of variety, and that's just in the pre-created power set! Personally, I tend to take a bit of a meathead approach to action games, relying on just adequate defense but really focusing on dishing out as much damage as possible in the shortest time, with a philosophy along the lines of "if they're already dead, I don't need defense". Freedom Force, on the other hand, really offers some useful and fun alternatives! Moreover, the power tier structure for built-in characters is such that you have to upgrade certain powers before you even get access to other ones. So anyway, one of the powers that I really found surprising useful was Man-Bot's Energy Transfer. Using continuous fire mode, he can basically act as a fountain of power for the other team members. It takes him out of the action somewhat, but that doesn't matter when it means El Diablo can spew a constant stream of deadly Infernos - while flying - as a result! |
