Games Workshop and Climax have shown RPG Vault around Warhammer Online at the Toronto Games Day, giving them a glimpse of this dark MMORPG based on the venerable tabletop franchise. Here's an excerpt:
The gameplay will definitely have a strong combat element, but also involve two other major aspects. The economy will focus on the buying and selling of weapons, armor and equipment, which can be acquired as loot or crafted. The third facet is adventuring, which will apparently involve a variety of scripted quests. Through these activities, characters will progress through an extensive system of skills and careers that, in concert with the five races, seems to incorporate a broad range of options, allowing you to choose whichever career path you wish by acquiring the requisite skills. There are prerequisites; for example, becoming a Master Assassin requires you gain talents from professions such as beggar, ruffian and herbalist, the last of these to learn the use of poisons.
