Mystery from massivemultiplayer.org had an interview with JC Entertainment's General Manager Jason Kim.Priest looks pretty unique, as compared to the immense crop of Medieval Fantasy MMORPGs on the market. You guys didn't even go for the standard opt-out, and set the game in a science fiction setting. Given that you're wandering into unknown areas of marketing and user adoption, what do you have to be wary of when attempting to sell your game to the general populace? Have you encountered any resistance from the marketplace yet?
Priest will primarily target users who are fed up with the traditional MMORPGs on the market, or otherwise looking for a unusual/new gaming genre. We will also target users who are familiar with and enjoyed the Priest comic.
Our initial marketing strategy in Korea will be to focus on the fans of the original comic, and gradually spread our attention to a more generalized form of user. In the Foreign Market, we will use our unique themes of the Wild West, Catholicism, Fantasy, and Horror to advertise the difference between our “Hard-Gore” game and other games on the market.
The reactions from the Close Alpha Tests and the interests from the press are all great help for us. |
