The beta1 for Asheron's Call 2 is starting earlier than expected. Here are the details:The AC2 team is happy to announce that we have unveiled the “Beta 1” version of AC2, slightly ahead of schedule. This version of the game takes a big leap forward: all of the game features are done and a large set of game content is complete. We are now concentrating on fixing bugs, improving performance, and adding finishing touches to the game content.
We have just sent out Beta invitations to another 1000 players who were subscribers to AC1 back when we took our “snapshot” (for more information on the snapshot, see the FAQ ). For those lucky enough to get in, congratulations! However, the great majority of the AC1 players captured in the snapshot have not yet been invited.
We acknowledge that by the end of July we hoped to let in all members of the AC1 snapshot. Though we have made good progress, we are still finding plenty of bugs thanks to the efforts of the number of players we already have in the Beta. We have just finished major performance improvements to the game which we still need to test for a week or so longer. As a result, we don't think we will quite be able to meet the goal of letting in all of the players captured in the AC1 snapshot by the end of July.
However, do not give up hope! The Beta 1 phase of AC2 is going very well so far, and we do anticipate that by the middle of August we will have invited the entire AC1 snapshot. We are eager to see our world filled with thousands of new players.
For those of you who never played AC1 or who were not AC1 players with valid email addresses at the time we took the snapshot, your time will also be coming soon. We still plan to open the Beta up to general applicants by the end of the summer. Signups to apply will be taken before the end of August, so watch this AC2 Insider Web site for news.
