UGO have posted a preview of Sony Online's EverQuest 2. Here's a snip:Once you've designed your character, you'll be given some stat information, including what abilities your character might specialize in, but that's the extent of the decisions you'll be forced to make. Instead of forcing players to pick a class before they've logged in a single minute, the developers of EQ2 are holding off. In fact, it won't be until around your 7th level, a good number of hours into the game, that you'll be given the choice of a class. This technique goes back to the idea of inviting new players into the world. No one wants to make such important decisions before knowing what they're getting into. The developers want the players to understand the world and their choices before they made them, and the delay is a way of aiding that. |
