The Laser has beamed up a review of Arkane's underworld RPG 'Arx Fatalis' for XBox awarding the game a grade of B-.
Xbox owners looking for a traditional PC-style RPG haven't had much to choose from, but that is about to change with the release of Dreamcatcher Games' dungeon-crawler Arx Fatalis. Set deep in underground caverns, the title pits you as a lone-warrior as you explore a subterranean world filled with monsters, magic and puzzles. Arx Fatalis' first-person perspective puts you right in the action while a surprisingly deep magic system allows you to cast a variety of spells. However, the translation from PC to console leads to an awkward interface. The game itself is solid and entertaining, and takes off once you get accustomed to its quirky controls. Despite some problems, Arx Fatalis is a decent game that will appeal to fans of the genre patient enough to overcome its flaws.
